Brief Introduction

Udaya K. Madawala (Fellow, IEEE) received the B.S. (Hons.) degree in electrical engineering from the University of Moratuwa, Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, in 1986 and the Ph.D. degree in power electronics from The University of Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand, in 1993, as a commonwealth Doctoral Scholar.,After the completion of the Ph.D. degree, he joined Fisher & Paykel Ltd., New Zealand, as a Research and Development Engineer to develop new technologies for motor drives. In 1997, he joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Auckland, where he is currently a Full Professor. He has more than 30 years of both industry and research experience in the fields of power electronics and energy. His research interests include wireless power transfer, power electronics, V2G applications, and renewable energy.,Dr. Udaya is a Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE Power Electronic Society (PELS). He was with both the IEEE Power Electronics and Industrial Electronics Societies in numerous roles, relating to editorial, advisory, conference, technical committee, and chapter activities.
